This small sphere has been made entirely from rocks and clays that I have collected. The exposed clay that you can see is an Edinburgh mudstone that has been ball milled. The glazes have been made from a blend of Edinburgh rocks. The white includes the famous white sandstone that many of the local buildings are made from and the dark streaks of glaze are based on Arthur’s Seat basalt. It has been fired on its side in a wood kiln, supported on shells from Gullane beach.
