Dartmoor sphere

This is a particularly good example of my place specific Dartmoor pots. It is made using kaolin that has derived from the local granite, along with milled quartz and mica, also from the granite. It is this body that is flashing orange in the woodfiring. The glaze is made from a number of Dartmoor rocks, mainly a rare and very pure micro granite that intruded into the other rocks. It was fired on its side in my wood kiln.
